Hurray!

I got my replacement micro-bead cushion!

Yes, to replace the blue one that I broke some time back and had micro beads all over my bed.
D:

So anyway, I was at Kallang Leisure today and saw this nifty shop that sells ALOT of cushions. Fantastic!

http://www.jellybean-fun.com

A pink smiley face. Now going for 50% off. Cost me $12.95

Pretty cheap for a micro-bead.

I am pleased *squish*

My pretty little ring

I bought it at Bugis Junction, one of the wittle push carts around.

Was waiting for a friend so it was just idly walking. Saw the rings and began to browse. Wanted to get one with tiny footprints on it but I was half-a-mind. THEN I saw this cute little thing that has hugs and kisses all over it. x o x o

I put it on, perfect fit! Index and middle finger work just fine. And it's a spinning ring, meaning you can keep turning the center part round and round (without turning the ring itself).

It cost me $15 bucks but it's worth it. I love metal rings and this shall be one of my fav. There's only one piece left that's why I grabbed it. The shop brings in limited stock of each pattern so it's pretty lucky that I got one that fits.

When life gives you lemons.. order a tequila

I'm more or less back on my feet. It took me 2 days to crawl out of my indulgent despair.

When life gives you lemons, how to make lemonade? Nothing would sweeten the deal. So just order tequila.

It starts with the salt which is the cringing effect, then you gulp down the burning liquid that chokes you up inside. And then suck on the lemon to get it over with.

What do you get then? A buzz of light-headiness and you can face anything in this situation.

Oh yeaah..

Worries and whatnots

Took a day's leave to return to NSC for my report.

Well. The skin biopsy says.. that the freckle spot is a .. freckle. Well, technically, it's called a Lentigo or Lentigines (plural). I got tons of these on my face and body. It's pretty obvious even with make-up coz they appear on my neck and fore-arms as well. It did bug me but, there's really nothing I can do unless I go for skin peeling like.. everywhere. Anyway, freckling also came about coz dad loved to take me to the beach when I was a kid. So lentigines + freckles = me.

I was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis, it's a genetic disorder and today's NewPaper (pg 13) actually had an article on it. I do not look like the person in the news coz mine is a supposedly milder condition. Though I still have the genes in me la. And none of the other family members have it.. so it could be recessive and a new mutation occured in me.

Anyway, last year, Doc A said it could be Dowling-Degos but he wasn't sure till I get the biopsy. The skin tissue would prove or disprove it. Result? Disprove.

It wasn't Dowling-Degos, it's a normal Lentigo and we are back to square one. Aka, I have neurofibro. The new doc (today) was pretty good, did a full body check-up and he went through all the records in the system. He said based on what he sees, it -really- isn't Dowling, don't even need to check coz he has a Dowling patient. This doc has a real-life specimen and he knows what he's talking about.

I had an eye check done in primary school at TTS. Duno where the result is but they found lisch nodules which I suppose I do.. (don't really have a clue. too young to remember). And having lisch nodules in eye is part of a Neuro symptom. Thus it was keyed into the system. Had to do such checks and monitoring cause 'growing up', they afraid of complications. Like learning disability, development problems, tumours etc.

None of which happen. Cause I can run 2.4km and get a tertiary education. Ok, so failing subjects is my fault and not Neuro's.

Anywho, doc wants to meet me in 3 months time while he continues reading up on Neuro cause there are a few Types.. NF1, NF2 etc.. I'm classified as NF1 in records but he say may be NF6. But not enough infor to work with..

SO basically. I'm back to square 1. I still have Neurofibro-farking-matosis and I still don't know what type I am and I still don't know if it will worsen in the future. The fear of the unknown can kill you and I'm quite traumatised now. It's disconcerting to have a wee hope and then have it poofed and realised that nobody has an answer still. Gone through a farking biopsy that had me in abit of pain and now I sport a scar.

Yes, I'm whining and I deserve every minute of it now. Not feeling sorry for myself, it's 20 years too late to do so anyway. I could count my blessings that 'it couldav been worse' but still, it's really farked up to be diagnosed like that and to live with such pigmentation.

And after my skin clinic, I went to visit grandma at bukit gombak coz I heard she had a fall and wasn't feeling too good. She's very sick and energy-less. Mixed feelings about it. Wasn't the 'good' grandma and very money pinching. Hurt my family numerous times and on many occasions, I can be very cold coz my family didn't deserve to be treated that way.

But seeing her plagued with ill health and lying in bed, it made me cry. And I was half-sniffling while talking to her (or attempting to). She had a fever while I was there, brought to clinic (nearby) and was adviced to go hospital pronto. So now, she's at hospital with my uncle and getting a check up. Don't think it's anything serious, still under observation. I don't want to judge whether it's karma or whatnots. But old age and sickness can creep up anytime, anywhere...

I'm worried for me. Worried for grandma.

Life isn't very peachy at the moment.

My Lovely Saturday - Part 2

So after finishing up with the library, I went to grab a late dinner. Tampines is freaking crowded.. oh gawds.. the locusts.

I was starving and wanted a nice meal. Did some side quest (buy bread + papers) before hunting for food. Skipped Tamp1 altogether and moved to Century for a jap meal. Was about 9pm when I got a seat at Sakae Sushi.

To kick off the meal. A hot cup of green tea.

Hana maki, soft shell crab hand roll + chawanmushi

Couldn't resist ordering a salmon sashimi

How to resist?

Says it all.

Burp. My 3rd or was it 4th cup of green tea to wash down the delicious meal.

Peace Out folks

ps: And I had my ipod plugged in throughout the meal. Golden Oldies + sushi. What more can you ask for?

My Lovely Saturday - Part 1

11th April 2009 marked my first volunteering job at the NBL as a FOL aka Friend of the Library.

I joined few weeks ago and signed up for the Recycle Your Used Books campaign. I took the 3rd (and last) shift and worked from 5pm to 8pm. Basically, I just sit behind a table looking important.

Handing out coupons while arranging them musky books into a carton. Afterwhich, I gotta do a little packing and returned the barangs to the library officers.

I was the only one on shift but it was ok. Easy peasy job and manageable. I ended up receiving inquiries on what time the library closes and whether there is a photocopying machine around. LOL !

Met an old friend (Mr Ian) who dropped by to give me support. He was my library teacher in SRJC and it was good catching up with him. He's still in NLB but worked his way up ;)

I love the little stint today... and missed the feel of being in a library. Brings back happy memories.

Positively glowing !

Coupons in the biscuit tin. A book to read while waiting for customers and the tracking form file.

In need of sympathy hugs

I gotta whine.

I went for skin biopsy on friday at National Skin Center and I'm in a world of discomfort now. Not pain but discomfort.

I got pigmentation all over my body (uh let's just call it freckling for the sake of simplicity). Anyway it's a genetic condition. 20 years ago, I was diagnosed as X. Had to go for eye test, blood test etc. Been on a bi-annual check up since then. So far all I have are permanent freckling and eczema on hand. Me and my trusty moisturizer!

Anyway sometime late last year, Doc on the normal checkup thinks that the diagnosis is wrong. Sends me to another doc who works in the pediatric department. He looked at me and also thinks the initial diagnosis is wrong (the symptoms do not lie! LOL). Anyway he said if I really want to know and also good to just reconfirm, best to scrap my skin and check it under the scope.

Delayed for a while, went for my trip and so I finally did it last week. Had a local anesthetic jab and will be sporting a 1cm scar. It's below the 'pit' so not that visible. Besides, there are tons of freckle spots to choose from anyway *roll eye*.

A cut, a few stitches and I'm sent home with a MC and a quivering me. Boo hoo! It hurt a little after the anesthetic wore off.

But what I can't stand now is the ITCH. Damn.. it's itchy, a little prickly and I can't scratch. It's killing me.. *whines more*

I don't care about the bloody scar but somebody get rid of the itch! ><

Stitches off in 10 days. And on 20th I will get to know my results.

So cross my fingers for good news! :)

Sympathy hugs! Come on!

Wtf?

Go check out Sunday LifeStyle today (5th April) - page 7.

The usual topic of domestic help and the younger generation. As my dear summed up, "We're doomed!".

Some excerpts taken from the paper (interviews with the GenY kids):

15 y/o sec boy: "i have two maids. i'd probably die if there was no one around. but i think its impt to help out because you must have some hands-on exp."

13 y/o girl: "my parents would rather i concentrate on my studies than busy myself with housework. "

18 y/o RJC girl: "i dont think its important to learn how to do chores because it is common sense. if i have to do them some day, im sure i'll know how. in the future, i will get a maid and i wont make my children do chores, either."

One mother interviewd said "my kids dont do chores because it is not their job n they have no time. they cant be botehred eitehr. my maid also spoils them"

She's contradicting her words la! She thinks her kids dun need. She says they cant be bothered. Then she blames the maid for spoiling them? HUH

If the mother thinks 'no need to mop la', why the hell would the kid go 'aw come on, let me do it.'
Of coz the kid will grow up thinking they dun need to mop. Coz mum says no need mah.

Ok I'm no saint, I don't do all the chores at home but at least I mop, do the dishes and clean the damn toilet! And I keep my Redrum table clean. The first time I help to wash clothes while parents not around, I flooded the bloody kitchen with soap water. Lol.. well experience ++

Still.. I find it a bit disconcerting.

As I told my dear, we can make money by having a domestic help hotline. Geesh!

Partay like it's my birthday! - 02/04/2009

XL-ah brought me to Holland Village for dinner and beer !

Sushi Tei - ok so.. there isn't any food on the plate.

Roller sushi plates & a tank of lobsters in front of us

We walked down to the familiar watering hole for a thirst-quenching session :)

First pint of the night - dark for me, light for her

There goes the first pint

Semi-gone.. i think the empty glass is my second pint.. hmm

3rd glass for the night. was getting abit full so opted for a half-pint (dark of coz)

My fourth and last glass for the night. it's 1-for-1. so 4th is a half-pint. i changed to light.

Near gone (as in inebriated) with my 4th glass

So in total, i drank:
1-for-1 : dark 1 pint
1-for-1 : dark/light half pint

= 3 pints = 1.42 litres of beer

*burp*

Thanks for the night out, XL-ah~

And much apologies to the people who were on the receiving end of my drunk spamming.

I think bvo and my dear were victims... and my nu er... and YH... hahahaha
