Clay Art - 22nd August 2008

I had to organise a staff event for the company and I chose to have us attend an art workshop known as ClayArt. It's a 2.5 clay making session by this company called Clay-Street and the cost is $30 per pax.

It took a long long long time for it to be concrete but it was all worth it. First there was a delay due to the clash in the previous event, then another delay cause the date I wanted was not available. Finally 22nd Aug was The Chosen Date and I had colleagues dropping like flies. (= bad turnout)

Overall there were only 9 who came in the end and from what I see, it was a pretty fun outing for them. My big boss liked it and even sent me a thank you email for organising something 'new'. (compared to the normal wine-and-dine events). He treated us to dinner on that day too! All in all, I'm just glad for that wee bit of appreciation as it was really tough to organise something that can appeal. Whatsmore, handicraft isn't the most appealing item around...

I'm glad it's over and it was a success. Yay and thanks to everyone who came and supported me. :) *hugs* And to those who has to endure my whines over chats about turnouts and whinging about it being a failure. Hehe.

Bubble Bobble Babble

On fwiiiiday, my colleague decided to buy a box of Blowing Balloon. There are like 30 odd individual tubes inside with a large stack of yellow hollow straws to blow. I think one box cost $1.. hahaha...

So she distributed some to us and we spent a wee time reminiscing about our childhood days while having fun bouncing the balloons about. And breathing the glue-ish fumes at the same time. *ahhhhh.. happy*

Musings

Things have been very busy at work for me.. so much so that at night, I hardly have the urge to play games or chatter much online. Have to do excel stuff, reportings and tons of paperwork but all in all, it's a nice feeling to be busy. Busy is good. Well in my job, it is. Can't be TOO expendable, you know?

But I like my job. Sure, I gripe about management and this and that, but it's -normal-. Nobody's perfect and we all have different expectations.

Why do I like my job? I have my own cosy cubicle corner and it's open-ended in a way. So mine's the first lhs table and I'm under the aircon with a high panel (>1.6m) in front of me. Subsequent panels dividing the area are low, about chest-level. So I have a plant, a calendar to write appointments on, a small shrine for barang-barang like Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise, a wall decoration 'Latte' plaque, my black ceramic cup, water bottle, savvy leather bound Anthropologie stationery box, hand cream and work files. It's rather 'customised' and very cosy. And my woofer box is below the table for me to 'kiao kah' when I feel like it. Lol.


So apart from these, I get to meet alot alot alot of people. Meetings are a drag but it can be fun. I met high-management people (in private companies la), staff from SPH, Mediacorp etc just to name a few. I get to enter offices (conference room) that you will never be able to step into under normal circumstances. Also can attend functions and workshops. A rather nice eye-opening thing to learn and leech. And it's all these tiny little 'extras' that make my life more colorful. Well, more colorful than a similar 9-6 deskbound job. Generally assuming, I guess.

Just some quirks I get to enjoy ba. It used to be un-comfy but now I'm getting quite used to picking up phone calls/enquiries liao. Hehe.

Weekend Chill

Hiya folks!

I stayed at home most of the time this weekend. Had a nice lunch cook-out with the family and I made Ba Kut Teh Soup + steam egg with mushroom and narutos.. Hahaha a fake version of chawanmushi.. The naruto fishcake, I bought at Meidi-Ya. It's near $4 bucks for a strip of it man... duuhz..

Anyway follow-up on the prvevious post, I woke up with a slight hangover + dry mouth. Man... normal beer didn't do me in le... Could be the mix of alcohol.. hmm. So the soup was pretty successful. Rather easy to make but the steam egg needs some improvement I think. Hng.

So I hang out with my bro, played his PSP.. chatter alot and concuss for a nap after lunch. Eh msged me earlier and we decided to meet up to catch Mummy 3 at Tampines mall. GV had bad seats left so I dialed up Shaw to book them via phone. So duh. Why doesn't Shaw @ Century have online booking??? Tsk.

It was a blessing actually cause the GV timing was 9+ while Shaw was at 7+. Eh finished her stuff at Orchard and I told her to come on over. So she popped to my house, nua-ed abit and that's when we went to GV site and found out the seats were bad. So we looked for Shaw, booked the tix, happy that it's an earlier time and we left around 6+.

Bought nachos and a hotdog to share mmmm.. cheese... The show was interesting. Too many details.. I shall leave it as 'interesting'. Leave-your-brain-at-home kind of interesting.

After the show, Dear contacted us and we three sat at Macs (24 hr) to chill and chat. Kinda stuffed on Nachos so we drank coffee only. Think we stayed there for near 3 hours. I remember leaving close to 1am. But at that time, I was getting a little hungry so Eh bought a meal, and I ate the fries :D

Munched on the niiiice fries while walking to grab a cab. Came back, bathed and concussed.

Sunday was basically just a fine time at home.

I woke, ate leftover ba kut teh... read papers, played with the dog, watched Olympics with my dad, mopped the floor. I continued watching more shows on cable tv... then Mum bought prata back for dinner.

I'm all washed up and fed. Now blogging about my weekend.

I shall go check my mails and watch somemore tv shows online till it's time for bed.

A new week is starting. Ready to work?

Well.. I just got out of a 1-hr shower, had to wash the smoke stink outtav my hair..

Let's schee... I had .. 1 fruit punch, 1 brandy on the rocks, 1 lime juice, 1 tiger beer, 2 tequila shots and 1 corona extra...

I'm kinda stuffed with liquids now.. *blinks owlishly*

I'm online cause my hair is wet and I don't want to blow dry it.. hmm what can I do now?

1st Aug fwwwwiday

SO! On friday, I met up with my dear for a nice hang-out session @ city hall. She's off work early due to some scheduling stuff and I'm always off work at 6pm, poifect and rare opportunity to meet up and chill.

Anyway, we wandered to New York New York and we were lucky to get a seat without waiting -that- long. A nice cushiony seat and dear had a bliss moment munching on green cotton candy, provided by the cafe. The reason why we chose that place was because we weren't in the mood for heavy stuff and wanted something light that's munchable. Along the lines of salad and crackers stuff.

NYNY was good as it had salad AND all-day breakfast! Which I ended up ordering. Whooo, I love a good 'ol American breakfast.. yum ♥ The set consisted of toast, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage. I ordered a root beer float and we shared a mushroom salad. Fantastic! Dear had orange crepes which was pretty good too, the sauce wasn't too thick or sweet. And it complemented the dessert rather well.

So I told dear about my shopping needs and it was rather urgent coz I tend to wait till my clothes are like going to fall at the seams liao. I had my black tshirts and bermudas quest done in Bedok. Now, I needed a black jacket to replace my old office one. My office jacket was a cottonish, no collar cut from ... somewhere. And the sleeves were fraying already. As she needed to go off to Bugis, we decided to walk to suntec, and then cut through to walk somemore to Bugis.

So in Suntec, there's a shop called Iora which I had wandered in before and saw a few jackets. Didn't buy as I wasn't sure I liked them alot, though there was one that caught my eye but again, wasn't sure if it was suitable for work. Wanted G2000 too but the price was kinda steep for my budget. I hauled my dear in and pointed out the one I had my eye on and tried it for her. She gave stamp of approval and said it was a savvy jacket that would suit work fine! I really do love it and it's good for smart casual too. So I asked for a new piece and while paying, dear had Iora member discount!!! (whodathunkit!) Yay, so nice new jacket with cool metallic buttons :) :)

As I took abit of time shopping, she was a little running late so we took a cab down to bugis and I alighted as well to take the train home.
