My new mousie!!

My roller-ball mouse was acting up so I decided to change it since Ad told me NTU PC shop is selling MS Optical Mouse pretty cheap.

Problems of old mousie:

- can't register my clicking. not very sensitive..

- registers my clicking as 'twice'. too sensitive..

- the roller part is abit jerkish. not very smooth scrolling man

So tada, for $17 bucks, I got *drum roll*...

Seriously I think this guy has a really really good voice.

My vote for best vocal. Just that his songs aren't in the 'in' genre la. But man, he sings so effortlessly and has a natural high voice. And its a soothing kind of high, different 'high' from Jeff Chang la. You gotta hear it to understand.

How I spend my weekend ;)

On Saturday, went out with my group of gal-pals where we had a great time eating Magic Wok and 'lao yu sheng'! Thanks to EH for getting me a cool Aries pendant as my last year bday present. Aiyoh, wanto kok her head. Told her no need but she kop my wallet to hide. =_= Hahah cannot make it, but it's very nice, like it alot. Gotta thank CY for her Perlini Silver 50% off voucher too.

After dinner, we walked about and had Häagen-Dazs®. FONDUE!!!!! It was fantastic. Half white chocolate, half milk chocolate in the pot. There's cookies, egg rolls, small icecream balls, strawberries, apples, bananas and sponge cake for dipping. Yuuum~ Ooo.. Yuuuum~

At night, about 12-1am, Rain and Kaie came over for... *drum rolls* Maple Thawning Session!! Man.. armed with drinks and chips, the two set up their laptops on a low table while I prepared lots of cushion and a mattress in case anyone wanted to catch 40 winks. It was fun. The three of us managed to level and I shall not go into details regarding the Party Quest, else Rain is going to start arghing. Anyway we did loads of training and we had music from Kaie's I-Pod instead of the gaming ones. Kaie fell asleep in the chair, Rain konked out on the big pillow cushion and I took a few zzs on the bed. We all took turns concussing la. Hahaha.. Played till the sun riseeee..

Kaie and Rain left about 8am. I went back to bed and woke at 4.30pm. LOL. There's my weekend folks.

Special tribute

This is for Ad and mine Bvo who took the time to pop over to my place last night to help fix my PC.

The past few weeks have been hectic. Having to get Ad to test my video cardo, hdd and motherboard. And my power supply short circuited his spare motherboard too. I'm so sorry dude!! *wail*

And having to msg/call my Bvo when something weird happens like the cpu sputtering to life occasionally.

So there I was, handing her the screws while she put my motherboard (yep, got it back from SLS, all fixed) in. Ad handled the hdd and did socketing while my Bvo perused the manual guide. Man, I was quite lost. I couldn't even put my casing back properly. That's how much an idiot I was.

Owe you two big time, PC doks! And thanks for setting up my Bios and tinkering around with some updates too.

To market, to market...

Ooo, had a very interesting morning hanging out with my parents. There's this bridge-amajig that connects Lengkong Tiga to Bedok Reservoir. I think the block number is 600+. Anyway, it's pretty near, less than 1km. That's because the bridge is build across the PIE.

We went to the wet market and ate brunch first. Kuay Chap!!!! *sob* So long never eat. The one at Bedok Interchange is pretty good but very expensive. This one was not bad and the price is reasonable. 3 of us, about $9 total.

After eating, my mum did some shopping. Bought vegetables, meat and fruits. I haven't been to a wet market for the longest time. Find the 'smell' abit more tolerable now. Couldn't take it as a kid. All the 'lelong lelong' and people choosing their stuff, it's rather cool. Learn stuff like how do you choose an orange. Lol.

And I never knew 豆仁 is 花生. One food stall was selling 豆仁凤爪. I was huh?

Mum simply said: peanut and chicken feet soup.

Interview

Well I had 2 interviews already. It's the waiting game now. And at same time, continue the hunt.

It went ok. Just that there were certain parts where I flubbed up. Too honest I suppose. And missed out saying some things either.

Ah well, it's my first try. Live and learn. Would get better.

Just glad to have this chance to experience it.

Not all who wander are lost

I have a Computer Engineering degree and yeah, I have made up my mind to first explore the other industries available in the market. I know it's going to be hard.

I won't say that I'm giving up my degree. It's more of searching for a job that suits my potential and character. I'm a people-person and I like to do things hands-on. A stagnant dead-end job will not make me happy and I know it. I like coding but not as a duty. I wouldn't mind tinkering with my website or creating savvy pictures using PhotoImpact. But to do programming with a deadline, that would be one nasty issue.

I can't tell you now what I want to be. It's impossible. I'm a fresh grad and have zilch working experience. The only thing I can do now is to venture in areas that I believe holds my interest and if accepted, learn. It will be a whole new experience and a whole new training ground and quite possibly, open more doors for me in the future.

The main obstacle was fear. Fear of stepping away into an unknown region, fear of peer pressure and fear of parents' view. IT jobs will more or less have a higher starting pay than the other industries (especially when applying with a 'degree of any discipline'). So it's something that I have to be ready for. To be willing to accept a low pay but yet do something that I enjoy. It might sound flippant, but is money really the issue here. I know there must be responsibilites to bare. I'm almost the only sole bread winner in the family already. I have a duty to support. But it's not like we have to eat porridge and salted fish. And the bottom line is I'm the one who will be going to work. And facing the colleagues. Not my parents. What's the point if I have to use the word 'trudging' or having Monday blues, and looking forward to ONE day of the month when I get my pay.

My study life is over (for now). I'm starting on the next phase. I have been sending resumes to major bookshops, an advertising company and even National Library Board. These are the areas that I have a thing for and yes, I might have to deal with 'advice' from others and even scowling from my HQ, but a friend once said, if it's work that you like, it's not work at all.

Life is so short, I can't afford to have further regrets and 'looking back' scenarios. This is one chance to turn things around.

I'm going to wander for now. But I'm not lost.

Damn it all to hell! My PC is down AGAIN.

First the motherboard kaput, then the LCD monitor was sent for repairs. So I'm on loan now using Ad's old mb and hdd (coz his mb wasn't compatible with my SATA).

Right, latest news. Spiky decided not to boot up again and now suspecting power supply's fault. Ad came by just now and noooo, after changing ps, it still didn't boot up so he took my Vid-Kardo back to check. Oh MAN! What's wrong with my Spiky?!!?!?

Now I'm at Ad's house stealing his laptop to use. This is pathetic. I'm waiting for the SLS dude to call me to get back my motherboard. But now even the PC doctor doesn't know what's the illness.

Damn frustrating now. I'm freaking pissed!!

Mood: Foul.

But gotta thank Ad the Doc for helping out. *gives pie and some mesos for repair fee* Thankie dude!! *pats back*

Grrreat Gathering!

Yay! Had a village gathering today (chu3)! It's been a long while since we did any visiting though this year was slightly 'quiet' coz we didn't run around Singapore. Heh. Only the East. The party was lesser too as some members had to campaign in other maps.

So we started the day with a party of 4. We needed to pick up Ad the Bandit Chef from his house. Walked from Aljunied MRT to his block where the sun was beating down on us. Cable the Bard was useless as he didn't sing nor play the harp to boost morale. Perspiring by the time we reached, the party got lost when we wandered too far down the corridoor. Doh. *double click on Ad -- new member has joined the party* *Set up campfire to heal HP and MP* Our Chef cooked spaghetti with clam chowder/mushroom soup. Followed by Arabic Coffee that was originated in France and packaged in Malaysia only to be sold in Singapore. We were too full for the Tiramisu so into the fridge it went. Actually decided to lug it till we reach my house (final destination) but we forgot. Jiajin the Wizard brought a DVD-R to the Chef's house. Even Wizards are keeping in times with technology. One believes spell books are no longer in fashion.

Next stop was the Bard's home. Junyong the Ranger had to quit party as he had a Priority 7 quest waiting for him in the city. *One member has left the party* Contacted Dewei the Fighter and was told to meet him at Bedok platform, last cabin. And our Bard said ok and the party ended up somehow at the first cabin. Confusions aside, just note that it was the Bard's fault. *double click on Dewei and Shumei-- two new members have joined the party* Off to the Bard's house then. *Set up campfire to heal HP and MP* Had to sustain on Fruit Tree Orange Juice and Almond Chocos. Stayed for a short while before we took 2 carriages to bring us to the second-last stop, the Fighter's house.

*Set up campfire to heal HP and MP* Ate alot of CNY cookies and.. alot of CNY cookies. Watched TV, chatted, nuaed about and ate an orange each. Took two bottles of cookies back to my place - one sugar peanut, one prawn roll. For mahjong session munching. ;)

Right, so we had a party of 6. The farmers and boatmen were out celebrating the new year to get a bountiful harvest so there wasn't any bullock carts or sampans to bring us in. So we just hailed 2 carriages all the way back to my place. Near evening, again we *Set up campfire to heal HP and MP*. Dinner was yummy steamboat. Yuuuum~

My house's always the last stop. Two more party members found their way to join our campaign. Terry the Gambling Mage and Lixin the Cleric. *double click on Terry and Lixin-- two new members have joined the party* So after dinner was the usual mahjong session. Yes, I do run the occasional gambling den. Set up the table in me room and turned on the aircon. I'm not much of a major mahjong dude and since we had more than enough 'hands', I mapled while chatting with them instead. And of course, how could I forget my other role as Coffee Lady. Took orders, made coffee and just spent hours listening to music, playing and talking. Had almond jelly with longans for dessert.

Last but not least, a great yusheng feast to end the visit!!

Thanks for coming guys and hope we don't just do this on 'special occasions'. LOL.

Happy Chinese New Year! We didn't eat the cookies so I gave Dewei back the sugar nuts but I kept the prawn roll. *roll dice: thieving skills success*
