Happie Halloween Everybody!

It's the 31st of October today! Halloween Day!

I know we don't exactly celebrate in SG.. who am I kidding.. we DON'T celebrate it in SG. Well, maybe minority few ba. But apparently it's a big deal here in Tucson. Walmart, Target etc are selling candie, candie bowls, bags/hats/clothes w Halloween prints and electronic door bells that play Spooky Music. There's dancing skeletons (a push of ze button) and pumpkins (real/fake) on sale. Pretty fun to play around when browsing through the aisles. Heh.

Woe tis my name..

I thought being in the US would mean that my name is more common..

But nooooooooooo.. the 'names' I had to put up with.

1) Village Bakehouse - they will ask for your name when you order and pay at the cashier. Then you settle back down at your seat and wait.. the waiter will be holding foodies and going 'XX? Who is XX?' ... well so I said 'Ave, A-V-E'.

I ended up with : Abe.

2) Anthropologie Fitting Room - each fitting room door has a tiny mirror in front where the assistant will write your name on the mirror with a marker. So they can like *knock* Hi XX, everything in there ok? .. well so I said 'Averil'.

I ended up with : Averill

3) Beyond Bread - another bakery/sandwich cafe where they will write your name on a piece of paper, kiap it to a stand. Then you bring the stand and plunk it on your table and wait for your food to come. .. well so I said 'Averil, A-V-E-R-I-L'.

Hair clip

My fringe is getting a bit too long and haircuts in US tis expensive.. so I shared half a packet of clips with my sista.

She took the pink pair, I took the blue pair. And we split the purple one.

Water Aerobics

On Tuesday, I hauled my ass from bed at 8.30am, got changed into my swimming costume and joined a group of old people for water aerobics.

The class was from 9am-10am.

14 people in the class - out of which, 2 of us (me and my sista) are the only ones who are NOT over 50 years old.

The instructor brought along a player and we 'exercised' in the pool to Oldie tunes. Then the cd or the battery screwed up, and the tune started to repeat itself-self-self-self-self...

Overall, it was an eye opener. And trust me... it's EXHAUSTING. Moving about in water... takes up alot of energy sia..

The old people all very nice and friendly. They will introduce themselves first. Makes you wonder why you hardly see any old people in Singapore in a swimsuit in a pool.

Shopping today at KOHL's

Today I went to KOHL's departmental store to look-see look-see, coz it's having some major sales for 2 days only.

Friday: 3pm-11pm and Saturday: 7am-3pm

So anyway, we popped down and wow! Ended up with a bill of 38 bucks for 5 items.

1) A Daisy Fuentes shades

Side note: I wanted to buy an Oakley Dartboard but it cost more than US100 bucks so it was just k.i.v then while browsing the sunglasses section, I saw this DF pair that looked almost like a Dartboard! Lucky or what!

2) Two Sterling Silver rings

Sidenote: I wanted to get one ring from www.inspiredsilver.com and the price was about $19.95 for one (not including shipping). Anyway wishy-washy me was still deciding about it. Today at KOHL's, the jewellery section had tons of earrings, pendants, rings etc.. and I chanced upon two very nice ones. Caught my eye immediately. They were puurrrfect ^^

Niagara Falls! Part II

Actually it's just going deep down and entering a tunnel so you get to see the waterfalls real cloooose. From where I'm standing, I'm getting pelted by water and the raincoat wasn't much help at all.

On Tuesday, we spent the whole day in Toronto, CA. It's VERY nice. We went Chinatown for lunch and walked those alley-ways. The houses were those bricked, pointy roof kind. The streets had cool names too. BUT there are no pictures to show you coz the camera battery died. *cough*

Wednesday was more Falls day and Thurday we went back home. Took a flight from Buffalo to Chicago. And from Chicago back to Tucson.

Niagara Falls! Part I

Hiya everybody!

I'm back from my short trip to the Falls! There were two places to choose: Niagara Falls, NY or Niagara Falls, CA. Heard that the Canada side has more stuff to see, so we went there instead.

My departure was Sunday, 5.30am. We took a domestic flight to Dallas, Texas. Then a transit one to Buffalo, NY. I shan't tell you the timing coz the time zones were kinda screwed. Anyway, we rented a car at Buffalo then drove across the checkpoint into Canada all the way down to the Falls where we stayed at Sheraton Hotel. It was early evening by the time we set foot into our room, which was rather pathetic. No view, no fridge, no microwave oven.. But they took pride in their Queen-size beds (there was a rave message in the room pamphlet).

NF's superbly beautiful and the scenic was lovely. Autumn's creeping up so the maple trees were a nice shade of green/yellow/red. Weather's definitely colder than Tucson, still warm, but the wind can get pretty chilly. Especially at night. Brrrr... We took a walk out to the Falls to see the night view of it but no pics were taken coz the digicam sucked at night.

Monday came and we set off early to take some pics of the Falls.
